Why You Should Hire a Pro Makeup Artist

I’m sure every bride has questioned whether or not they should hire a makeup artist for their wedding day. Now, I’m obviously biased because I’m a bridal makeup artist but I wanted to share my thoughts on why you definitely should hire a makeup artist for your wedding.

As pros we know what combination of products will last all day. Your makeup has to suffer through a lot on your wedding including a 12-16 hour day, heat, tears, dancing, hugging, and kissing. Your makeup has to be able to hold up through all of that. We also know what kind of makeup photographs well and what doesn’t. Your day to day makeup and makeup for photos is very different. Makeup will not be as visible in photos as it is in real life, and as professionals we know what will actually read well on camera. You have to go more dramatic for photos, no matter what and sometimes my more natural brides get a little nervous because they feel like they have too much makeup on, but trust me on this one. You have to find a good balance of still feeling like yourself in the makeup and also still being able to see it on camera.

Hiring a makeup artist also takes one thing off your “To Do List” and makes things a lot less stressful on the wedding day. You can just sit back, get pampered, drink a mimosa, and relax with your family and friends before you walk down that aisle. How many times have you been doing your makeup and you can’t get your eyeshadow to blend and your eyebrows don’t match perfectly? We’ve all been there and hiring a makeup artist will take away any pressure and frustration that you could have with your makeup that day. As pros we are also fast and efficient so we can get through a whole bridal party within a few hours.

We are able to create the look of your dreams! As artists, we are excellent at recreating inspiration images and that’s something I’m personally, pretty proud of. We can see things that you may not be able to see, and we can put the pieces together to figure out how to create the look that you’re going for to emulate your pinterest inpo photos, and how to tweak it to fit your facial features.

Also, let’s be real here. Weddings are expensive. When it’s all said and done and the day is over, all you will have is your photos from that day. There’s a good chance you are spending several thousand dollars on your photographer and maybe a videographer, so why would you not also invest in a makeup artist (and hair stylist) when you are going to be in every single photo and that’s all you will have to look back on for the rest of your life?

To end this post, I would just like to ask you this: How often and for what other special occasion would you ever get your makeup done for? It’s rare that you will ever have a good excuse again to get your makeup professionally done, and you should do it for your big day simply because you deserve it. You deserve to have a luxurious experience. You deserve to feel and look beautiful. You deserve to feel confident. That’s my opinion.

xx,

Sabrina
